Chora Aegina's Apartments are the ideal choice for those who wish to experience the authentic charm of Aegina in a traditional building. They offer all the modern conveniences sought by the contemporary traveler. Located just a few minutes on foot from the port of Aegina and across from the Municipal Art Gallery, they provide an ideal location to enjoy the city and its cultural attractions.
Situated in an iconic building in Aegina with a rich history dating back to around 1900, Chora Aegina's Apartments were initially used as a residence. The ground floor, for some years, served as a store for agricultural supplies, always under the ownership of the same family.
This iconic building is an integral part of Aegina's landscape, one of those structures we admired and had frequent contact with during our childhood, as our grandmother lived in close proximity.
In 2016, with the opportunity to acquire the building, we felt intense enthusiasm. With the support of the previous owner, who preferred the property to remain in the hands of someone rooted in the island, the building came under our ownership.
The renovation process began in December 2021 and was completed in December 2023. Initially designed as our home, the neighborhood and the distinct spirit of Aegina led us to a new plan. We decided to convert the building into three rental studios on the ground floor and a two-bedroom apartment on the upper floor.
The renovation was carried out with great respect for the architecture and characteristics of the original building. Many of the original openings (doors/windows) were retained at low heights, preserving their charm. The exterior colors and details on the building's facade are indicative of the neoclassical architecture of the island.
The apartments feature a unique artistic character, adorned with works by the Aegina artist Nectarios Kontovrakis.
The overall accommodation experience is enhanced by the presence of a spacious inner courtyard, providing an even more distinct space for relaxation and social moments.
